A story...

Merry Christmas and a Happy New year... For some of Us at least.

Hi everyone,

It has been a while since I last wrote anything on my blog but I would like to start off by saying Thanks to all of those who contributed! I am very pleased to see that some of you bought medicine, food, water and even donated money to Those who are in greater need than Us. Thank you!

Before you read further, I must warn you as I will write about a topic that many of Us choose to ignore, namely starvation.

Since I wrote my last post (roughly 6 months ago) 2.8 MILLION children have died from starvation. 2.8 MILLION... Children...The future of our kind... Dead... Why? What can We do?

Let me share the story of Minhaj Gedi Farah...

At Seven months old Minhaj Gedi Farah arrived at the International Rescue Committee Hospital in Kenya with his Mother. He weighed only 3.1kg - less than the average newborn.
His giant eyes stared from a skull-like face, part uncomprehending fear, part despair, and the skin was pulled so tightly across his tiny, gaunt chest each rib was clearly visible.

Minhaj Gedi Farah - Newly arrived at the Rescue Hospital.

He was diagnosed with anaemia and severe malnutrition, and needed three blood transfusions before he was also treated for tuberculosis.
Even his mother, Assiyah Dagane Osman, was sure he wouldn't make it, that he would become a one-child personification of a famine that would claim the lives of thousands. But although 29,000 children have died in east Africa, Minhaj wasn't one of them.
Little more than three months after Minhaj was photographed at the Dadaab refugee camp he is not only alive, but he carries the chubby cheeks and smile of any other toddler approaching his first birthday.
After three months of intensive feeding with Plumpynut - a peanut-based nutrition paste - Minhaj now weighs 8kg, which is close to normal for a boy his age.

Minhaj Gedi Farah - 3 Months later, September 2011.

Just try to imagine how thankfull this Woman must be, knowing that there are people in this World who gave some of their hard earned money to those who have absolutely nothing.

This story always brings tears to my eyes. Not only out of sadness becuase there are children who still suffers from starvation but also out of happiness becuase I know that there are People like You and Me who care enough to give some of our hard earned money to help save others!

The basic needs of any human is water, food, having clothes and a place to keep them warm. The scary part is that there are people out there who lack all of it.

We know that people die out of starvation. Small children die becuase they are so malnourised that their own bodies consume their own muscles and organs untill their small hearts stop beating...

With this said I would like to let my Family and Friends know that I will not be giving away any Christmas presents this year. Instead I will donate money to Unicef and Red Cross in your names and let you all know that I love you deeply and that Together, we have saved a few Children's lives.

To those of you who plan on giving me a Christmas or birthday present in January, I just want to say that I rather want you to donate money to Unicef either through my own collection (first link below) or via Unicef's sites directly.
Thank you all for reading, and a Merry Christmas to all of Us. <3

I'm a Human helping other Humans... Who are you?

Sensitive readers please be advised!

I'm not going to polish the truth and some of the photos I intend to use is of very strong character and will have a negative effect on your mental well being... You have been warned ...

Every day thousands of children are dying from starvation in Africa. The drought is the worst in 60 years and it is time for us to show what kind of person we are.

How can We help?

We can all help by donating any amount of money. Every amount, no matter how big or how small, will help save the life of a young Child or an entire Family!

Please note that No money will go to Me or stay at Unicef, it will go directly to Unicef's Aidworkers in Africa who will buy food and medecine and distribute it to those in need. I am not doing this for profit and if you are one of those who buys me a Birthday or Christmas gift please don't! I instead beg that you donate the money either through Unicef's link or through my Fundraiser hosted on Unicef's site. (Links below)

This is my new blog dedicated to the cause of making a change in the World but I need Your help!

Some time ago I read the facts that over 3 MILLION Children are at risk of dying from starvation in Africa. Are we really letting this happen while we sit at McDonalds stuffing our face with a Hamburger after a long day of shopping for stuff we probably don't even need?
I wish I could stand tall and say "No!" but the fact is that we all are. I try to give money on a monthly basis to Unicef. I have a Godchild in Africa whom I have sponsored with food, a place to live and an education but I strongly feel that it just isn't enough. She is just one "lucky" child out of Millions in urgent need of help...

Starving Children at one of Unicef's many refugee camps...

I think that many of you are just like me. An average person with a family, friends, a career and of course a place to live. To me, that is just not enough! Just like me You are probably a strong believer in human compassion and I feel that I want to use that to do more with my life than just live it and I would like to help others get the same chance.

Warning! Very strong image below!

I have spent hours and hours on the net reading up on the situation in Africa and it wasn't until I saw the image below that I began to realize how bad the situation really IS down in Africa.

This is a photo of an African kid trying to feed on animal feces in order to keep on living...

As I said... We can ALL help out with even the smallest amount of money. Or why not go to Unicef's page and buy food or medicine that will get shipped down to Africa directly?

The choice is yours... Let You know who You are, and let the World benefit from Who You are.
